DAY 7 — BIRMINGHAM.
Sojourners begin the day by hearing from Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, leader of the movement in Birmingham, who shares his experiences. They visit Bethel Baprist Church., where Rev. Shuttlesworth preached during the movement. Sojourners then visit the Civil Rights Museum & Institute in Birmingham and tour movement monuments in Kelly Ingram Park. Then they visit of the 16th Street Baptist Church where four girls were murdered in a 1963 bombing. On the bus to Mississippi, the group studies the personal courage and sacrifice of movement members Vernon Dahmer and Chaney, Schwerner and Goodman.
