DAY 8 — HATTIESBURG / JACKSON.
In Hattiesburg, Mississippi, sojourners meet with family members of slain civil rights activist Vernon Dahmer, including his son Vernon Dahmer, Jr. , his daughter Betty, his widow Ellie Dahmer, and son Harold. Then it's on to Jackson, Mississippi, where Medgar Evers' widow, Myrlie Evers Williams, addresses the travelers at the Evers' home, now an historic landmark. In Jackson, the sojourners also meet Jerry Mitchell, a reporter who helped bring members of the Klan to trial for the murder of Vernon Dahmer Sr. The group then buses spends the night in Memphis before heading to Little Rock.
